The new Decentralized category aims to explore the decentralization aspect of web games: an experiment taking Web 3, blockchain, crypto, NFTs, and all the similar buzzwords, mixing them together with game development, and seeing what comes out of it.
Challenges: you can use any technology that falls into the topic, but if you pick any of the three challenges from Protocol Labs, NEAR Protocol, and Flux, then you'll be able to win some coins. All you have to do is implement functionalities using any of their tech to be eligible. Prize pool consists of 73 FIL, 1460 NEAR, and 4000 FLUX, which are currently* worth about $20 000 total.
Challenges are optional to Decentralized category: there are three to pick from, and you are free to take on any of them, or all at once.

Before Protocol Labs, he spent over a decade at Mozilla building browsers, shipping a smartphone OS and running programs to scale devrel globally.
Johnny is an English-born Canadian with an addiction to Yorkshire Tea and Timbits. He runs documentation and developer education at Protocol Labs.
Aliaksandr studied business at UC Berkeley, worked in investment banking under Frank Quattrone, and spent 4 years selling and marketing MuleSoft and MemSQL products.
Vlad started his career as a professional TopCoder competitor and worked on mobile apps since 2009. He founded a 15 person mobile dev company and worked 3 years at Google on the Play Store.
Daniel Keller comes from the data/information sector, and pursues the use of blockchain to further protect personal medical, financial and personal data through encryption and decentralized identification. Dan got involved in the cryptocurrency space through World of Warcraft, by using Bitcoin to buy "gold". He now works as the Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder of Flux, and helps push for a decentralized world with disruptive technologies.
Tim Sulmone is blockchain veteran and life-long video game addict. Beginning his journey by running a Bitcoin node in 2011, to then moving onto contributing towards various cryptocurrency projects, Tim is no stranger to decentralized infrastructure. He now leverages his experience as the Sr. Business Developer for Flux, to help further ensure that our world has a decentralized network to host on.
Digital Marketer, Developer, and Business Owner. He strongly believes in the power of decentralization and hopes the world will soon embrace Web 3.0 with open arms. He now leverages his experience and works as the Global Marketing Manager with 4EVERLAND and helps liberate users from the centralized, permissioned, and single-node data service models to the new internet that is unbiased, freer, fairer, and more open network.

The Decentralized category allows (and even encourages) connecting to external services, but please keep in mind that is only for the pupose of the Challenges - all the data needed for the games to work have to fit within the 13 kb zip package.
You can use any technology that can be described as "decentralized", but to win the prizes from Challenges you should pick something from the Protocol Labs (IPFS, Filecoin, NFT.storage, etc), NEAR Protocol, and/or Flux technologies specifically.
Places will be assigned based on the judging from the experts of this given category, separately from the overall voting.
Prizes will be awarded to FIL, NEAR, and FLUX wallets respectively. If you wish to get them in US Dollars instead, then the wire will be completed via PayPal given the exchange rate at the time of distribution.
Expect the Rules of the Decentralized category to be updated regularly up until the start of the competition on August 13th.
